kate in gnome


I used to use kde. Now I use gnome, but I like kate alot. I want to make it so that when I double click on a text file, kate comes up instead of gedit. I think I've done it before, but now I cannot for the life of me find the right place in the preferences to change the setting (from something like "gedit %U" to something like "kate %U") bye the way, I'm not entirely sure what the "%U" part is for... Any help would be apreciated... thanks.

the %U means the file you double clicked on, Sadly I don't know the awnser to this one but it should be in somewhere in prefences, or a right click + open with.

Gnome isn't known for customiseiblity but this option should be their
