Kali Question, Running latest version 2017.2 problems running Kismet.

My problem is, when starting Kismet it attempts to put my wireless into monitor mode which is correct however it fails and kills Network Manager, my work around is to manually put the wireless in monitor mode then start Kismet, sometimes it works and other times it fails. I have looked into the config file to comment out the starting of monitor mode but but cannot find any entries. This also happens with other programs that require monitor mode. My wireless USB is "Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8812AU 802.11a/b/g/n/ac WLAN Adapter" made by ALFA (AWUS036ACH), also is it normal for network manager to mute settings for the wireless when in monitor mode? Only been running Kali a week coming from a 30 year tech affair with windows if I never see a Windows 11 I will die a happy man.

Tip: Anyone having issues installing the driver for this chipset should try the "Make" installation method, that's the only way I could make it work.

Kali is not recommended for beginner linux users. It is intended for security professionals.

Aircrack mentions AWUS036AC support but not AWUS036ACH specifically. If lsusb shows 0bda:8812 for the device I would think it should work. But as I don't have that particular device I can't test.

Also, what do you mean by "is it normal for network manager to mute settings for the wireless when in monitor mode?" What do you mean by mute settings?

By mute I mean, when viewed in network manager the ssid is not visible and the "select network" window is empty as well as the settings window, when the wireless is in monitor mode. I now believe this is normal, because when back in managed mode the windows are populated. Either way Managed or Monitored the usb wireless works fine.
lsusb does show 0bda:8812, however it was a bit difficult to get the driver installed finally discovered the make command installed the diver correctly.
Thanks
