Kali Linux: Using CLI to capture network connections and create a file

Hello everyone,

I am performing a school exercise and really stumped. I have used the CLI to create an ftp connection to a site. Once i established the connection i have opened another CLI where i intend to use a command to capture the current network connections to a file. I used the command netsat however is is saying the command cannot be found. I then used the command ss and i can see the actual ftp connection i established. Is there a command to capture the data into a file and would anyone be able to be of assistance or tell me why the netsat command will not work?

Any help is appreciated

thank you

The most common reason a command cannot be found is "path" issues however Kali is kind of a script kiddie tool so who really knows what they forgot to stick in there...
No worries though... lots of really kewl ascii line art to look at....

You can capture the connection data from any command that provides it on the CLI via redirection.

As Habitual hints, 'netstat' != 'netsat'.
Also, if you want to capture the data flow, try tcpdump.
