Kali Linux top bar disappeared.

After I upgraded my newly installed Kali linux the top bar has disappeared. On desktop only thing i see is the icon "computer". I can access all the files but I cannot move the window around. There is no bar at the top that shows "Application" "Places" "terminal" and other things. What are the possibilities.?

It sounds like a portion of your desktop environment somehow became mis-configured:-

When you installed Kali; what DE, GUI did it come with?
I'm thinking it's most likely Gnome:-
