I also have this problem. I'm using Iceweasel in Kali. Cookies certainly aren't the problem. I've had no problems with captchas on other sites, only on Kali's forums. I tried contacting Kali to report this, but their feedback is through a web forum that uses the same problematic captcha, so I can't send them feedback. Does anyone know if they've got a social media presence? I thought to contact them on twitter, but I haven't found a Kali Linux twitter account yet.

Think of the forum as the FIRST in many many many puzzles you have to solve

basic knowledge puzzles that you must already know to be able to use kali

and RichSPK it is likely a cookie permission issue
(think third party issued cookies)

Funny, John VV, but not helpful.

Now I've been getting a 504 error at the Kali forums for roughly the past half hour.

So, based on the replies in this thread, it seems that Kali is only for 1337 hax0rs. Heaven forfend anyone should try to learn. And aside from captcha issues on one website, it's a capable daily driver distro.

No guilt trip here.

No. Based on Kali Linux itself.

Is Kali Linux Right For You?

As the distribution developers, one would likely expect us to recommend that everyone use Kali Linux. The fact of the matter is however, that Kali is a Linux distribution specifically geared towards professional penetration testing and security auditing and as such, it is NOT a recommended distribution for those unfamiliar with Linux.

In addition, misuse of security tools within your network, particularly without permission, may cause irreparable damage and result in significant consequences.

If you are looking for a Linux distribution to learn the basics of Linux and need a good starting point, Kali Linux is not the ideal distribution for you. You may want to begin with Ubuntu or Debian instead.

I grew up and a long time ago. When my parents told me,
"No body learns anything staying in the nest. Fly, be free!"

So no one is stopping you but your self.
Be more polite when asking for help from strangers.
Because, no one owes you anything.

I assisted in this thread because I like to pay it forward.
But paying it forward to ingrates is not in my repertoire.

Kali tools can be installed in Ubuntu or Debian if really wishing to learn.
Kali is not a turn key war driving OP/SYS for wanna be black hat hackers that are clueless users
with no morals. Which covera majority of posts on this forum.

Not professional at all.

Thanks for the pissing contest. The point is that there's a problem with the captcha on their website. Their feedback form uses the same captcha, so I don't know how to let them know. Googling led me here. I ran into the same problem with chrome on Android. I can't get past the captcha. You might notice I've been using Linux for quite a long time. This has nothing to do with trying to learn the basics of Linux. You can argue that it doesn't belong in the newbies sub forum, but how about a pointer in the right direction, then?

NO there is NOT a problem

as of Dec. 31 when i registered a disposable yahoo account
it WORKED

BUT you have to allow the third party cooikes that firefox NORMALLY BLOCKS BY DEFAULT!!!!!!!

this is a normal basic task
the captia site has to set a cookie
ff can auto block removed cookies
and prevent them from setting again

reset firefox to allow it
then AFTER you register you can remove that cookie if you do not want it

assuming that the menu bar is re-enabled in firefox
tools/ page info
and set the cookie permission in that

Thanks for that. Whether or not the menu bar is enabled, you can also right-click on a page and select View Page Info from the context menu. My default setting for cookies is Allowed. I verified that I have cookies stored from both kali.org and keycaptcha.com. I still can't get past Kali's keycaptcha, whether in Iceweasel on Kali or Chrome on Android. Maybe the problem is the email address at my vanity domain? I'll have to try with a Yahoo address, too.

No, the yahoo email address didn't work, either. It was a long shot, anyway.

I started fiddling with the other form entries. forums.kali.org finally accepted my registration after I un-checked the option to receive mail from other members. That may have been a coincidence, but it's something to try if other people have problems...

Once you've managed to register on the forums, you can leave feedback for the site admins without completing a captcha, so I let them know there's a problem and pointed them to this thread.

I just wanna add that it took me around 30 attempts before I could register and between the last 10 tries or so I did the exact same thing(except for different Captchas) and didn't change any setting. so I'm pretty convinced that it has nothing to do with finding the right setting and it will automatically work.
