That is exactly my point. I am not trying to make fun of OP for using Kali. Rather, I would like the OP to start with a distro (and there are a plethora out there) more suited for beginners. Again, I quote the official Kali documentation:

I would even go further and suggest that you really, REALLY, should not use Kali Linux if you are a "newbie" (I prefer the term beginner myself, as it sounds less derogatory). Not least because you might get a skewed perception of the root account, because:

So, you are in fact mucking about as root ALL THE TIME. This is NOT normal practice, but it works for Kali Linux.
I quite enjoy Mr. Robot myself (although as of late I have grown tired of some of the "dramatic tricks"), but the show portrays a group of HIGHLY SKILLED (fictional) crackers (not "hackers", what is hacking? read here). Even though they are fictional characters, I dare say that they did not start their "career" using Kali Linux.
