k3b newbie help.

I have installed Suse 9.1 Personal on a Laptop (Samsung V20 - P4 2400mhz, DVD/CDRW combo drive) and Suse Linux 9.1 Pro on my desktop (Athlon 1600 XP - Benq DVD reader and separate Sony CDRW drives). On both machines I am having different problems while copy CD's with the KDE K3b software. On both machines I can write from files on the hard disk to a CD with no problems. I have enable DMA within Yast for all drives on both machines.

Laptop : When copying a CD in normal mode I get the message that the CD is empty, this happens for both data and audio CD's, the clone mode works fine but copies multiple tracks as one single track, which for video/audio files ain't much use. I have checked the setting within K3b and found that my DVD/CDRW drive is shown in the CD Recorder section but no drive is shown in the CD reader section, is this correct for a combo drive?? I have tried to add a drive in the CD Reader bit under /dev/hdc, /dev/cdrom, /dev/cdrecorder etc each time I get an error that the device cannot be found even though these are devices shown within the /dev directory??

Desktop : When copying disks using the DVD drive that reads CD at 52x to the Sony CDRW drive that write at 12x the copy does at least work, however I did a test copy of an audio CD with about 650mb of data on it takes about 1 hour to complete the copy. The same configuration under that XP MS product using Nero used to take about 10 minutes for similar copy jobs??

I am getting a bit confused looking through the various website trying to find similar issues but have not been able to find any reference of other people having these types of problems. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paped1

I also face the same problem, mine is a fedors core 2 Kernel 2.6.6.
Using K3b it complained of Cannot Multiple Tracks
using the command
Quote:

cdrdao copy --device ATA:1,0,0 --driver generic-mmc
I could copy the Video CD.
1,0,0 is the bus addr i got by running the command
Quote:

cdrecord --scanbus
