k3b cd copy start greyed out
I am on Kubuntu 8.04. Afer successfully copying one CD, I have tried to get k3b to copy another CD, loading the cd a number of time, but in the CD copy window, the start remains greyed out. Can any one help?

It sounds like k3b is unhappy with the CD you're trying to write to. Have you tried several different CDs? You can find k3b's state of mind by looking at the panel to the left just above the Welcome to k3b panel which occupies the entire lower half of the window. You should see the name of your DVD reader/writer such as HL-DT-ST DVDRAM... and just below that a line in italics about what k3b thinks is in your DVD drive. If it says, no medium present, then it is not a happy bunny and your disk is probably faulty in some way.

The greying out happens when I insert the cd I want to copy, not the one I am going to copy to.

So you have two CD/DVD drives, eh? If you try to copy a file from the HD (instead of the other CD drive) does that work? Could it be you gave only one of the CD/DVD drives that can write (that's my setup) and are mixing up the source and the target? So it's important to determine that you can indeed write a file onto a DVD/CD from your hard disk. If the source CD is greyed out it could be that the drive is defective? I believe K3B will give you information about your CD/DVD drives. Have a look.
