Have been doing to re-installation of the RH8.0 Server for more than 15 times and it is getting to my nerve as I am just a beginner with Linux.
I sincerely hope someone who has successful install MySQL for RH to work with PHP kindly let me know the easiest setup. I had tried my old setup which is supposedly to work but now can't.
The files I needed to setup to work with my existing database are:
1. Apache 1.3.19
2. mod_ssl 2.6.2-1.3.12
3. php-4.0.4
4. openssl-0.9.6a
5. mySQL-3.22.32
If anyone knows, please give me some details how I can setup so I can get mysql database to work with php.

Did you ever install the php-mysql rpm or not?
Yes, I have install the php.ini. Yes, I have installed php-mysql rpm. I have also installed php-server and php-shared. The php is running but I don't seem to be able to link with mysql. I have installed the php-mysql too.
Yes, it has been a week and I have still yet to complete my setup that works. Really frustrating and desperate to get it to work. So, I sincerely hope that if there is anyone who has the simpliest setup that can run php with mysql, I would be most grateful to know how I can do it without problems.
It will help a lot if you can describe exactly what the problem is you are having. Cut and paste the error messages to here. "The php is running but I don't seem to be able to link with mysql" doesn't really tell us much. Tell us the following...
What is the PHP script that you want to access mysql? Is it a forum script like vbulletin, or phpbb, or is it phpnuke or postnuke or something similar... or is it your own custom script?
