Junk notebook --> digital picture frame help!

Ok, here goes!

I have a old notebook with either 32 megs or 64 megs of RAM on it (depending on if I use both SODIMMS I have or not).

I'm thinking of making one of the many digital picture frames you see on the net, but I have a few quirks with my project:

1) the low amount of RAM. I'm thinking a non-graphical load of Linux with the absolute bare mininum of add-ons. All this has to do is boot, read a USB key for pictures, and display them like in a screensaver mode.

2) this notebook has no hard drive. I'm thinking a 'boot from CDROM' or 'boot from floppy' load is best here, since it won't boot from USB key.

Now, if I could get it to load up enough code to use a wireless card to connect to a network I could get the pics that way, but I think I'm asking too much.

Am I asking too much of this setup? I know I can drop more RAM in this notebook if necessary, but I'd like to do this as cheap as possible....

I've got no linux experience, so this should be interesting!
Thanks in advance...

you could just run DSL or DeLi and change the screensaver to your pictures, it should be able to do that if your not using it for anything else
