Jumping mouse

I just installed mandrake 10.1 on my presario 1270 and my mouse just randomly goes where it wants to. I looked for a solution and I found this. psmouse.proto=bare When I put it in as root in the command line it says command not found. Am I doing it right or is there another way to fix my problem.

P.S The search is down

Maybe this is a problem of the surface you run your mouse on. Optical mouses are not behaving well on reflecting surfaces. Maybe this is the problem.

You wouldn't happen to have your mouse hooked up through a KVM switch would you? I've seen this behavior with certain brands of KVMs.
