Java plugin for Firefox, how to install

I'm a general newbie to linux. I know basic commands and what not. But when I followed the instructions here to manually install the Java plugin for Firefox, it doesn't work. I still can't get applets to run. I'm running SUSE 10.0, so I also tried installing the Java 1.4.2 plugin that I found when I searched for it using YaST2's Software Management. Neither worked . Anybody have any advice?

I already looked at http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=460452 which was almost the same question, but I tried all that he did. SUSE installed firefox in /opt/lib/MozillaFirefox . Do you think that makes a difference?

Hi!

Assuming that you've installed the JRE from Sun microsystems homepage (if not, then get it from java.sun.com), follow this link for an explanation of how to link/install the java plugin for Firefox. If you don't have the Sun's Java RE installed, check this link for a quick 'n dirty way of installing Java.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Thanks much for the links! I'll try that out when I get home. I think I read something in there that I forgot to do
