java plugin and firebird question

I have java installed and have the plugin installed as root, but when i try to go to a site it claims i don't have the plugin installed. When i try to as a regular user, i get permission problems. Can i copy the libjavaplugin.oji.so to the firebird plugin folder and will that fix my prob??

actually, in the plugins folder, i have a java folder with all of the files, but java is not working. unless i use firebird as root

You cannot copy the libjavainplugin_oji.so file to your firebird folder and make it work. you have to make a sym link from the libjavaplugin file to the plugins folder of your firebird folder.Hope this helps, I just went thru this yesterday to get netscape to run java on mandrake 9.1.

but i have that file in the plugins folder, should i delete it and create the sym link?

and should i ln the ns610 or the ns610-gcc plugin? thanks in advance

ok, the 610 (non-gcc)causes firebird to crash

FF103 12-29-2003 09:45 PM

1. yes delete the file first
2. make sym link using ns610-gcc, hope this helps, when I tried copying the file , netscape would'nt start up and neither would firebird.

unless I was'nt clear on that last post, delete the file that you copied to your firebird folder, then make sym link from Java folder to firebird folder.
