Java JDK installation on Gentoo

Hi,

I have recently installed gentoo. I have built up the system and everything seems fine.

Now I am trying to install Java JDK. However, I found the ebuild Gentoo provided are mainly JDK1.5 and JDK1.4. I am wondering if there are JDK5 and JDK6 available as a standard Gentoo ebuild?

I am not quite sure, but it seems to me that JDK1.5 = JDK5, is this correct?

Many thanks,
Ray

Yup you are correct.
The name JDK 1.5 refers to JDK5.

It has been a while since I last used gentoo but I have found this:
http://gentoo-portage.com/dev-java/sun-jdk
So clearly jdk1.6 should be available. It may still be masked but that is rather hard to believe considering that 1.6 has been out long enough for it to be considered stable. Maybe you simply haven't synced with your mirror yet?
