Java installed, but not working
 

I have Java intalled via the Add/Remove under the Applications menu, and the box for enable Java and enable Javascript are both checked in Firefox, but Java still won't run. The "verify" page on java.com says I don't have it installed and so does my university's homepage.

My specs are in my sig. Does anybody know how to get it working?

update-alternatives may play a role as well.. Debian uses gjc by default instead of Suns jre.
