java crashes Mozilla

I've been fighting Mozilla for days now trying to find a version of java that will work. 1.4.2.04 wouldn't let it launch so i installed 1.4.2.03 because I read that was the one to use and it crashes Mozilla on every java site. Mozilla 1.6, MDK 9.2. Any ideas out there please?

I solved the crashing issue. Can't copy and paste libjavaplugin_oji.so. Now java just doesn't work. Mozilla says it's there, Netscape detector sees it, "enabled" checked, so does anyone have a solution? It works, just real slow. Cure?
