Hi everyone, I'm having a bunch of problems with Fedora Core 3, which I recently installed without too many hiccups alongside Windows 2000.
* I installed j2sdk1.4.2_06, and now it complains when I use "javac" and "java", instead its saying I should use "gcj" and "gij". Does that sound right? Also, it doesn't seem to be compiling too correctly - a simple Hello World program compiled in Windows but not in Fedora.
* I've been trying to install JOGL (Java binding for OpenGL), which should only be as simple as putting the appropriate libraries in j2sdk1.4.2_06/jre/lib/ext (at least according to another forum). However, I still can't compile a JOGL program. I suspect it may have something to do with setting the CLASSPATH, and I tried "export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/usr/etc etc" but that didn't work either. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or simply how to view the CLASSPATH at all??
* I can't play ANY music on Fedora, no audio CDs or MP3s with the Music Player or any of the multimedia players that came with it. Is it me or Fedora? I read somewhere updating udev was a must to play CDs or something, but that didn't work either. I downloaded the udev update and put it in /usr/var/spools/up2date and tried running up2date but that just stalled. I tried "rpm -iv udevetc etc.rpm" but I think that failed too because all these errors came up and it exited. Can anyone help there? Oh yeah, and my Fedora has no access to the net (my adsl modem doesn't have linux drivers).
Thanks for reading, I appreciate any words of advice. Since the purpose of installing Fedora is for my thesis, if I can't install JOGL I might have to try another distro .
Cheers!
Jenny
