iwl3945 wireless installation

After installing Scientific Linux 5.3 on lenovo t61 laptop, 3945 wireless does not turn on. On the same laptop, after installing Ubuntu8.10 the wireless works fine

Lets make sure your box is seeing it;

lspci|grep Net
dmesg|grep iwl |grep driver
then hit the wireless kill switch and give us the output of
