Welcome to LQ

Login as root, then type:
XFdrake

To configure your X server. Follow each section to get the thing configured.

Cool

still no luck

i tried using XFdrake, but it didn't have my graphic card listed, it chose for me intel 845 as my graphic controler. I checked out the device mangaer in windows to see what graphic card i had and the one i had was the intel 828456/gl/ge/pe/gv graphics controller. When i tested the configuration in XFdrake it said "error no screens found with configuration". I really need help.!!! does any one know what to do in this situation?

Would it be possible to install a new relase of red hat over the version of mandrake linux that already on my computer?....i figure its too much work for me to install the driver since i have no experiene in the type of syntax required by the linux kernel. Of course you can install Red Hat. Just choose to manually configure partitions. That way you can keep your existing ones. Or you can choose automatic and have Red Hat do it for you. Then the installation will format the partitions and you will have a fresh install.
