Istalling Mandrake 9.0

Ok everyone, I am a total Newbie
and hello to everyone

I have a clean hard drive ready to install 9.0
What is the procedure to installing Mandrake 9.0 on a machine?

I installed Ark Linux a few days ago and it seemed a very easy process, but although I have downloaded the ISO files for Mandrake 9.0, it does not seem to want to run, and I expected it to load in similar fashion to Ark Linux

I am kind of stumbling around in the dark here just now, and need a few pointers to set me off
So any help to get me started on this will be greatly appriciated

Derek

Have you gone into the BIOS, set it to boot from CD and popped CD#1 in? Have you also checked the MD5sum of the iso before you burnt it? Have you checked that once burnt, there are multiple directories and files on the disk, not just one big iso file?

I remember when I was in the same position as you... I had to feel my way around, and I still never found the switch.
You gotta try stuff... mess it up... and try again.

To check the iso, open a terminal in the directory you downloaded the iso, then type md5sum thenameofthefile.iso You will eventually see a long hexadecimal number. It should be exactly the same as the md5sum as posted on the site you downloaded the iso from.

Edit - PS, are you in the UK? If so, I could mail you the 3 disks, guaranteed to work.

Probably a bad image. I loaded 9.0 from the disk and found it to be as easy as everyone says it is. Try reburning them after checking the md5sum
