I just installed CentOS 6.3 64bit, yum -y update, then tried configuring samba so my win7 box could connect to the /mnt/users share point. I have set SELinux to passive and rebooted, I have stopped both iptables and ip6tables, I have added 192.168.2. to my /etc/hosts none of these have worked.
I have also done the following on the win7 box:
======================
Local Computer Policy->Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Local Policies->Security Options
Find the policy:
Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always)
If this is enabled, change it to Disabled. Be sure and restart your machine for the change to take effect! Pressing the "Apply" button in the Policy Editor after the change is made is not sufficient...
==========================
Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy
Local Policies - Security Options
Network security: LAN Manager authentication level
Send LM & NTLM responses
Minimum session security for NTLM SSP
Disable Require 128-bit encryption
my SMB server worked after changing those two options
=============================
then rebooted the win7 box. nothing seems to have worked. Help please. See below for testparm on my server.
Code:
[root@sparky ~]# testparm
Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to minimum Windows limit (16384)
