Issues with freetype in Xorg in Arch
I'm having issues with startx. It works with root but when I log onto a normal user I try startx and it says it fails to load freetype because the module doesn't exist. I've edited /etc/rc.conf but when i reboot it says that the module doesn't exist (even after I downloaded /extra/freetype2 from pacman).
Any other suggestions? I used nvidia to configure xorg.conf and it seems to load fine in root, just not under a normal user. |
Are you sure that the freetype error message is the only one that you're gettin when you startx as a user? All by itself it should not cause X to fail.
Have you tried adding the nopat boot option to your lilo or grub as suggested in this thread? http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=70555 |
The MODULES array from /etc/rc.conf referres to Linux kernel modules. extra/freetype2 is, I quote: "TrueType font rendering library".
