Issues installing Ubuntu 18

Hello, I am trying to switch over from Fedora to Ubuntu because there is better support for a project I am trying to use. I want to completely wipe my drive and install Ubuntu but when I select to wipe the hard drive and install Ubuntu I get the following message:

The attempt to mount a file system with type vfat in SCSI1(0,0,0), partition #1 (sda) at /boot/efi failed

This is a little beyond my understanding and I was hoping I could find some help

Is Fedora now the only operating system on the computer?
If you already have an EFI system as indicated by your post showing that partition is EFI, why are you trying to delete it. You'll need it to install the Ubuntu efi files.

Personally, after ensuring that you've backed up all your data, I would boot up off a GParted Live media device, delete all the partitions that currently exist on the disk (clean slate and all that), and then boot up off an Ubuntu install media device to install Ubuntu.

From the Ubuntu install media you can choose advanced. Then, when you come to disk partitioning, choose custom. Delete the old partitions and make a new one(s), depending on how you want to go.
