Issue with sliding windows (backing up windows client to Linux media agent)
We have just upgraded our redhat media agents (they are connected to the library) from 2.1 to the latest redhat release. Now we cannot backup the window clients to the linux media agents. Did 2.1 have sliding windows on by default? Also how can you adjust the packet size for the windows machines. They are small in comparision to the linux size. The backups are very slow and we took the backup software out of the picture by using winscp (freeware) to move the windows data to the linux computer and it was very slow. Wireshark (freeware again) are showing checksum errors.
This have to do with networking. When we upgraded the redhat computers from 2.1 to the latest release there is a bandwidth issue from the windows computers (2003 server) going to the upgraded Linux boxes. We disabled the sliding windows on the Linux server and now backups are running but running slow. What would be the best way to max the throughput. From what I could understand, the sliding window for linux in large and the sliding window for windows is small. I hope this helps. If anyone has questions just reply to the thread and I will add it. Thanks for helping me.
no worries
