Angry Isp Servers

Howdy,Fellow LINUX users/losers, I am confronted with a DILEMNA that makes my INTERNET HOOK-UP potentially limited to ONLY WINDOWS. When I dial -up to my ISP (a Large regional one) the STATUS box ( this is on a WINBLOWS 98se Machine) IT says Windows NT server , Windows Protocols) does this mean Iam screwed when I try to get my little LINUX BOX onto the Phone line???? Iam using REDHAT 6.0 and previously used Mandrake -REDHat 6.5 followed all directions(to the letter) and got NO online connection ,{except for MINICOM -one way >outgoing on REDHAT 6.0} VERY Frustrating, not being able to go online with a SOFTWARE Product that is SUPPOSEDLY stable and Free. Iam just a Newbie so try to bear with me ,If possible. Could it just be tyme to ditch my ISP and go to another one who will charge me more ,but have the LUXURY of using LINUX instead of Old windows ,or Am I just incapable of hooking up my NiX box to MY ISP?!?!?!?!?

In theory there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to connect to your ISP. Do you have a winmodem or a full hardware modem? If you have a supported full hardware modem you should be able to connect, a newer distro might help to get you connected easier. RedHat 6.0 is rather old, the newer distros like RH 8 or Mandrake 9 make setting up internet rather easy.
