ISP Logon Fails

I am using RH 9, (Dual Boot with XP)

My modem will not complete the handshake with the ISP (

I have

1. added the primary and secondary DNS addresses, and .36
2. added the domain name:

I have left theusername the same as in windows (no on the end)
Password is correct.

Modem dials, ISP answers, says "logging on to the network" then times out.

Any clues? Initialisation string?

what are u using as your dial-up manager? try wvdial and if you are using wvdial, try adding this line at the end of /etc/wvdial.conf
Stupid Mode = 1

Sorry. I am using Kppp.

I was successful with Kppp in RH 7.1, so naturally I went with what I knew.

I will try yours and see what happens.
