When you "open" the cd and look at it in windows, what do you see? Do you see a .iso file? If so you burned it incorrectly. You need to burn the iso as an image and not as a file. If you look at the cd and you see files and sub directories, you have probably burned it correctly.

Give more details. Did your previously installed OS boot or you saw any error message?

ok ... just tried something else...

i dont have the software to burn something as an image at the moment, but i did get a prog called VCdControlTool which let me get into the iso file. I took the info from the iso and burned straight to cd .. and i got an error message on boot .. "media cable unplugged, check cable"

ok .. so another question .. how could i make this a partition on my HD and not use the live cd. (i might just kill windows all together)

spit_fire 10-08-2009 09:55 PM

bump..

ok this is all workin nice ... except ...when i restart my comp. linux aparently gets wiped or something.. i have to type install at the boot menu again to get it to do anything... then anything that i done in linux before is gone.. HELP?!?

PS This is the first time i have dealt with a "live cd"

yes .. im mega newb

mobinskariya 10-08-2009 10:32 PM

you must install linux to your machine to make your changes permanent.. since you are using a live cd the changes are only written to primary memory (not hard disk) and when you reboot it will be gone..

spit_fire 10-08-2009 10:37 PM

how would i do that ... sorry for the dumb sounding questions .. just trying to learn all this

mobinskariya 10-08-2009 10:46 PM

when you boot into the live cd do you get any option for installing the linux or may be there is some icon on your linux desktop to start the installer..sorry i am not familiar with its installation since i havnt used pclinuxos..

spit_fire 10-08-2009 11:29 PM

yes there is an icon for "install livecd"

would this make it so it dont run off the cd?

spit_fire 10-09-2009 12:26 AM

Think I just figured it out .. we'll see ..

THANKS for all your help guys!!
