is this possible?


in my system there is only Redhat Linux 9.0 and
now i want to install Windows without formatting
the Linux root partition
is this possible ?

If you don't want to format your HDD, you can always use VMware.
This will let you install Windows within Linux.

Other than that, you will need to re-size your Linux partitions in order to make some room for Windows.
Windows must be the first OS on the HDD, unless you use a partition software like Partition Magic.

Depending on the filesystem you chose
you might be able to resize partitions using
GNU parted ... it's part of Knoppix, so, if you
have a knoppix CD (Version 3.2 or better)
you should have no problems.

yeah i have Knoppix 3.2
can u please explain the commands
now my root partition is 3 GB (primary)
then /home (10 GB)
how can i include a partition before this ?
is there will be any problem for boot loader ?
ie . after installing WinXP can i boot Linux from the boot menu ?

I have to admit that I've never installed XP,
so I wouldn't know whether it likes being
on a second partition or not. If you moved
the / and inserted XP before it you'd certainly
have to tell lilo (grub?) about the changes.
