Is there out there a simple not complex, music player

Running Linux Mint 20.2 Oma Cinnamon.
Is there out there in Linux land a simple not complex, music player? Like put the cd into the dvd player. and up pops the "Linux Program" and it plays the music.
No creating libraries or playlists down or up loading etc. Like Rhythmbox which is a piece of junk.

Can't you just access & play them through your file manager, or is it the fact that the mime type is tied to Rhythmbox, just change the mime type to use another player, like audacious.

Sound-Juicer can play directly from the CD. Depending on the disc, it might even be able to show the track information.

Clementine is pretty simple. I haven't used XMMS for a long time, but many people would probably mention it too.

But if you want even simpler, there are non GUI music players for the console and terminal emulators.

If you still have midi files, try fmmidi.

It is that rare thing a music player that does not pretend to be a file manager or a web browser!

I like QMMP. It is likely in your repos.

I agree with aragorn2101, VLC is always my go-to for a music player.

But how simple do you want exactly? you can't get any simpler than mplayer it doesn't even have a GUI, it's a terminal program that has about 4 controls: forward/back/pause/exit. I used it as my music player for a while when I was forced to use a small footprint system.

To build on what royce2020 said, I use VLC for videos. One of the reasons that I like QMMP is that I have an extensive library of Winamp skins from back in the olden days, when I was a young 'un, and I can use them with QMMP. Otherwise, VLC would be my first choice.

Search for "WinAmp"

Anyone who misses WinAmp? that would tell a milestone.

Or try the one below, from this link: https://askubuntu.com/questions/9205...m-the-terminal

Yes you can do it with many commandline tools like mpg123, aplay , cvlc and mplayer, but I suggest the play command. To install it:

sudo apt install sox
And for playing special formats like mp3 you must install its libraries:

sudo apt install libsox-fmt-mp3
And to use it:

play music.mp3

Celluloid can play music files (never tried with an actual music CD that I can recall though), along with video files of course, and is very simple/basic UI (it does support a playlist, but not library management). It should be in your repos as well. They have some screenshots on their webpage: https://celluloid-player.github.io/ (when playing music its just a 'black screen' and you can drag the window down pretty small).

It might have been useful if I had 20:5 vision. [heh]

I find Audacious and/or VLC really simple to use. Both will play a CD. Audacious takes playlists if you got 'em but individual files work fine as well (Audacious creates a temporary playlist for you).
