Is there a way to install GNOME2, or get the repository for it?
There are quite a few distros using GNOME2 still, and I want to know, how come they don't give you the choice between GNOME2 and GNOME3? Anyway, is there a repository I can add to download it from? I'm not a huge fan of GNOME3 and I'd rather use KDE, but GNOME2 is something which would attract me to a distro.

For ubuntu 11.04, there is no way of getting gnome 3 there without a PPA.
http://nirajsk.wordpress.com/2011/04...-ubuntu-11-04/ I wouldnt do it, running gnome 3 on 11.04 has caused issues for a lot of users, and it will also disable unity (not a huge problem....) Gnome3 should be in the standard ubuntu 11.10 repos. Gnome 2.X will be gone. |
Gnome2 is dead.
Debian stable and testing have Gnome2, sid has Gnome3. |
