Is there a hosts file on linux?
I am having some problems with domain names currently. I changed my ISP, and now have a router/modem set to dmz with my own router behind (I hhad a bunch of ports open and wireless on it).
I figured out most ptoblems relating to domain names, but I am using a mail server called Surgemail, and when I use the web front end, it is still looking to an invalid domain. I have found with everything else (including attaching to the mail server through Outlook) that I needed to change everything from surrey-consulting.com to www.surrey-consulting.com. However the web front end is still pointing to value without the www. I was wondering if if a hosts file existed in linux where I could just point the old address to the new one? or, am I going down the wrong road? Thanks! Robin. |
You may want to check /etc/hosts. Perhaps it requires you adding an entry in there.

Spot on thanks! I added the ip address/host name, and that solved it!
BTW, where in Jersey are you? |
