Is there a file in my 'file system' that has my bookmarks?

The cable for the desktop got unplugged and it blew out my entire browser and everything connected to it. I had to go into settings and reset everything, plus I lost all of my very important bookmarks.

I was hoping there is a file that could be resurrected from file system directories that would bring my bookmarks back.

:((

You have been told elsewhere you can't expect others to know what you have installed on your system.
If you won't give details, you can't get useful assistance. Simple as that.

Did you bother to search for an answer ?.

No, there isn't, as bookmarks are personal, so are stored within the profile OF the user for the browser in question. If the browser is one of the mozilla ones (firefox, seamonkey) or deratives, there may be backups stored in the "profile_directory"/bookmarkbackups subdirectory.

I believe books marks are save to your /home/USER/.config/google-chrome/Default directory. .config is a hidden directory.

If resetting everything deleted the contents in that directory it might be possible to recover files but it can be difficult and since you have been using your system your chances are not good.

Thanks. Made it to the default directory. What file name should I be looking for in there?

WOW! It worked! Thanks. /home/[username]/.config/chromium(or "google-chrome")/Default/Bookmarks.bak. The command must be performed in a text editor like nano, not in a terminal.

However, now I have to figure how to get them out of 'nano'. They are in the form of folders, so I can not see the name of the urls.

WOW!
