Is there a Download Accelerator available for Linux?

Hi all

Is there a Download Accelerator available for Linux?
I'm aware that there are a few Download Managers
but I want something of a Download Accelerator (like Windows has Download Accelerator Plus) which SPEEDS up or ACCELERATES downloads.

Is there any such thing available under Linux?

Thanks n regards

Note: I've tried Downthemall firefox extension but it hardly makes any difference to the download speed

Did you enable multi-chunk download on Advanced tab in preferences of DownThemAll? Are you sure that the server you were downloading from does not limit you to have only one simultaneous download per client? Wasn't your download limited just by your bandwidth (not server's bandwidth per client)? Did you try d4x program?
