Is there a CD-RW UDF plugin for Linux?
 

Is there a plugin for Linux that's similar to Adaptec for Windows that will let you read and write to UDF formatted CD-RWs? What about just read? Also, I DO NOT want to have to reformat the disk for any reason. I need to be able to write to a disk under Linux, take the disk to these dam Windows 2000 boxes with Compaq written on them, use the disk there, and then continue using it under Linux when I get back home.

There is a udf filesystem option in the kernel to read udf filesystems. Also, there is a packet writing project going on which is what DirectCD from Adaptec is, here's a link:

As for the ability to write to the disk in linux, take it to a win machine, then bring it to another linux machine is dependendant upon which filesystems are supported from the kernel in those linux boxes and what software is installed on those win boxes. You would have better "universally" acceptable options by using a iso9660 filesystem on those discs, however if you are the admin of all them boxes, you shouldn't have much trouble.

I'm downloading the two .gz's for the UDF project. What I'm wanting to do is work on a disk at home, go to school, work on it more, and then bring it back home and work on it more without having to reformat or reburn it each time. It will play the roll of a high-capacity high-reliability floppy disk.
