Is the Western Digital Elements usb 3.0 supported on linux mint 17.2 & Ubuntu 15.10?
i wanna buy an hdd that supports my linux and windows laptop at an affordable price. I am look at the WD Elements 1TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive. Will it be supported on my linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela and Ubuntu 15.10
Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but USB3 is standard across all operating systems, so I can't see why it wouldn't.
Has anyone had a USB3 storage device not work with a Linux system?
If it is not using USB Mass Storage and instead some custom communication protocol then that might be a problem. Does it need software installed to work? Might say on the box/description.
It's a USB hard drive. So unless Western Digital did something ridiculously stupid with it (which I highly doubt, we've bought several of their drives and they work great) it should be fine.
