is tetex needed?
 

well im trying to install slack10 on my 1gig laptop lol =x and tetex is pretty big and im slimming down on everything im just using this lap for programing no gui at all and i just want to know if its really needed?

As far as I know, if you don't think you need it, you don't. I've actually always installed it because I've always meant to get into it, but never have beyond playing with LyX. :)

If you don't know what it is, you won't need it. It is a publishing system mostly for scientific texts. Above that, it may be needed for processing some documentation (e.g. R) written in tex. Nothing to do with system, though.
