Is Linux for beginners ?

Is Linux suitable those trying to change from Windows?
I tried to join Arch Forums as I was informed that this was designed for absloute beginners.
There was a final question after filling in the required details Name email etc The question was
What is the output of "date -u +%W$(uname)|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'"?(Required)
For someone coming from Windows am I thick or what does it mean?

Well, then you are misinformed. I wouldn't recommend Arch to a beginner, unless he really wants to learn about Linux. If you just want an "easy-to-use" desktop system I would recommend to try Mint or Mepis.

By the way, to get the answer to that question just copy and paste it into a terminal and press Enter.

Hi,

if you cannot understand what the above command is supposed to do then I would say that arch is probably not suited for you.
I do not know the arch forum but my guess is that this is probably some spam protection mechanism. You are supposed to copy+paste it into the command line and insert the result.

If you want to switch from Windows then you are probably better of with Ubuntu or Mint.
