First, this is NOT urgent for anyone. We volunteer out time...telling us to hurry up is fairly rude.

And there's no way for us to answer this...since you don't provide details. What KIND of laptop (brand/model?) Specifications of the laptop? Anything?? There are distros that can use 256MB of RAM, but without knowing anything else, it's hard to give any answers.

As far as I can see those mini laptops have a VIA 8650 ARM processor, so you need go with an ARM compatible distro. Since I don't have such a piece of hardware here I can't say if you can get that booting, I would try to copy a installer disk (may be ARMedslack) to a SD-card and boot from that. If that is possible you should be one step further to your aim.

But keep in mind that adapting a distro to a specific (embedded) device may be anything other than a trivial task.

It may be possible for a very few and I mean very few people on this forum to do that. One would have to have some prior working with a device like that or inside information in most cases. They'd have to have driver support or make drivers. They may even have to create flash programs and root the device or resolder device. They have 1000 or so people trying to get linux on a google tv and have not yet completed it. Many other examples.

I'd look for any web pages on the exact model or a similar model for clues to where to start. The best place is the maker of the system. They may offer a linux for it or a version of linux. They may respond to an email even.
