Is it possible to extend my VG and then LV to an attached usb drive ?

I have a dell poweredge server, running RHEL-AS(Taroon Update 4) 2.4.21 27.ELsmp (32-bit), and one of its partition(LVM) is full. No scope of attaching discs internally. Now I want to attach an external USB drive(1TB) and extend my LV to that. Is it possible to do it? Anyone has tried ? If yes what would be the brief steps.

There's nothing "interesting" about the fact that it's external. just extend like any normal PV

The important question here is whether it is wise to do so. I don't think USB is fit to be part in any kind of multi-disk storage technology. May it be raid (maybe raid-1 is tolerable) or LVM. Boot your pc once without the thing plugged in and you're bound to have some "fun".
