is it possible to convert .wav files to cda so i can play it in my car cd player?

i'm tryiing to just copy from 1 cd to another, and i've got xcdroast and tried installing the latest version of cdrtools (to no avail) but still have no support for on the fly burning. my question is can i use Grip to rip the file to a .wav and then convert to .cda ? anyone know a better way to copy a cd?

thanks in advance

Rip it to wav, and burn it, you dont need cda to play it.

dslboy is correct, just use Grip to rip it to wav files and then burn it as usual.Or if you rip it to linux ogg files, I believe Eroster or Gnome toaster will convert them for you.

Oh man do I feel old.....

the CDA format is a mangled wav file format. As may other posters have noted any linux cd burning program will easily take a wav file to CDA format. If you have one long track with no breaks it's most likely becuase you only had a single wav file. Each file should be it's own track in any sane(k3b) cd burning software.

Sorry for jumping in without offering any help, but I have a similar problem. Here is my scenario, I have an mp3, wav, cda player in my car. I would like to burn my ogg files to cda format. Is there a way of doing this without converting the ogg files to mp3 and then burning them as cda? any advise will be appreciated

yes, convert the ogg to wav, WAV == CDA. They're the exact same files as far as the average user is concerned.

I would also like to vouch for k3b. It's just drag and drop.
