IRQ probe failed on MDK 10.1

Hello everyone,

I am using Mandrake 10.1 Official Version and I have the following problems:

When I boot the system, I get the following error :
hda: IRQ Probe failed ( 0xfffffffa)
and the system continues to boot but at some point it freezes and does nothing else or works very slowly. During the bootup process I get the follwoing errors :
Ext3-fs: INFO: Recovery required on readonly filesystem
and it goes on very very slowly.

Initially I used to get the error:

hda: dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x24

I turned the DMA off by issuing the following command:

hdparam -d0 /dev/hda
and it worked, but the system bootup became very slow.

Also, Sometimes I need to restart the computer 3-4 times before I can get into Linux and it is very bugging. Can anyone please help?

Thanks

My System Configuration:

HDD: Samsung 120 GB
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800+
OS: Mandrake 10.1 Official
Kernel version: 2.6.8.1-12mdk
