IRQ Probe Failed / Lost interrupt - Error During Login

Following is my desktop config :
Segate Harddisk 1 - 40gb (partition C: D:)
CDRW Drive - as E:
DVDRW Drive - as F:
Segate Harddisk 2 - 150 gb(as G:)
1 gb ram
Win xp already installed

With above config, recently I tried to install Linux 7 (Kernel 2.2) from boot CD which went fine with dual boot (DOS / Linux)option

After install with boot from harddisk
I got the following problem :

IRQ Probe failed (0)

lost interrupt <which continue repeatedly>

Anyhelp is appreciated.

With dual boot by selecting DOS my Win xp working fine.
With dual boot by selecting Linux text mode working fine.

Kernel-2.2 stopped development in the 1990s, IIRC, you will have drivers for nothing. Kernel-2.2 needs to have it's hand held as regards irqs and all devices. It doesn't have any drivers for your box.

Unless there is some massively persuasive reason for ths, abandon linux 7 with it's 2.2 kernel. Get a newer OS
