IPTABLES and port 25
 

Hi, first post so be nice:D

I've installed RH9 with no problems and set it up as my network's SMTP server using Sendmail. Everything's working, I can send mail from my Windows machines. However, I'm worried that I'm open to spammers using my server as I have the following line in sendmail.mc:

DAEMON_OPTIONS('Port=smtp,Name=MTA)dnl

which, if I understand, allows anyone to send mail via my server. Now, I've been told to stop this I should drop all requests on port 25 except from my local LAN. Can anyone advise on how I do this.

I've found RH easy to set up, but IPTABLES seems to be confusing me:confused:

Any help would be much appreciated.

try using:
lokkit and redhat-config-securitylevel

they are basic firewall setup utils.
