IP name translation in Fedora browser

I have a mix ed LAN network of windows and Linux Fedora 2 systems. I have samba configured and I can see and access Windows machines from Linux and Linux machines from windows. I have a web server running on one of the windows machine. From another windows machine I can access the server from IE by typing the server name in the URL line as "http:\\socrates" However I can't seem to access the web server from any of the LInux machines. I tried keying in "http:\\socrates" and "\\\socrates" and nothing seems to work. I have been using LInux for a week now and love it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Add the name and IP to your /etc/hosts file which should fix this problem.
