invoke makefile: make

hey guys, this is most likely a newbie question, but here goes

at that site, step 3 says to invoke the makefile: make....what does that mean ( i actually tar an updated file than what it says...the contents of which are

invasian@gh-1057:~/cx88-0.0.4> ls
audiochip.h cx88-i2c.c i2c-compat.h tda9887.c video-buf.c
btcx-risc.c cx88-reg.h id.h tda9887.h video-buf.h
btcx-risc.h cx88-tvaudio.c linux tuner.c videodev2.h
cx88-cards.c cx88-vbi.c Make.config tuner.h videodev.h
cx88-core.c cx88-video.c Makefile v4l1-compat.c
cx88.h doc media v4l2-common.c

i'm not sure what invoke the makefile: make means or how to implement it...i've tried typing in make -f Makefile (something if found) but it just says make command not found or no such thing as make (even when i log in as root)...i'm using suse 9.1

just run "make"

If make is not found, you have to install one. Every normal distribution contains make.

hey yea, that would be my problem...i'm using suse 9.1 personal (and i heard that it didn't come with any development tools) how would i go about installing the make command? is it a part of another package or something?

EDIT: never mind...i found it...thanks so much.
