"invalid version response" error using msnre on Mandriva 2008.0

Hi, Im trying to use a CLI interface for msn messenger, I tried tmsnc with no success, however I came accross msnre which seems interesting too. every time I try to connect I however get the error 'invalid version response' which Im not quiete sure how to solve, I am pretty sure the version I have is an updated one.
i also tried port 443 because I saw on one forum that it could be blocked to restrict the use of msn, so I thought may be by editing the .conf file and using that port will work... but nooooo

Looks like the MSN server is not liking your program. From the sourceforge page, I see it has been last updated in 2004. I believe Microsoft keeps changing its protocol so as to make it as hard as possible for small projects to keep up.
I would advise, if possible, to use a more open protocol, such as jabber (GoogleTalk for instance uses Jabber).
If not possible, I would advise using a more active project that is updated often to keep up with Microsoft protocol change, such as finch which uses libpurple which is developped by the pidgin team which is very active. It is part of the pidgin package actually, but I believe Mandriva has a separate package. Try "urpmi finch".
