Invalid System Disk when booting
 

Dual booting W98 SE and Mandrake 9. Worked fine till I was fooling around with WinDoctor. Windoc ran through a load of stuff because I hadn't run it in some time. I reboot and know it boots to LILO gives me the usual choices...Windows...Linux...I choose Windows and it looks like it is going to get Windows and it gives me Invalid System Disk. (No floppy in drive.)

Any thoughts?

I don't know exactly what the software you ran does, but if it modifies the boot sector of your windows partition in anyway, you might have to either reconfigure LILO or install the latest version. Also, note that some things like hibernating your computer can make rebooting IMPOSSIBLE without wiping lilo off your boot sector and using a regular windows bootloader. There are some other things that one can do to one's boot sector that LILO doesn't have a clue what to do with them, (Trust me, I've done a few of them) but those are usually the result of some very stupid things when installing and configuring Windows. Just some thoughts. Does windoctor have a) a restore to previous settings feature and b) a command line interface, if yes to both, boot using a windows boot disk and run windoctor again and restore to previous settings. If not, try running the 'lilo' command to reinstall lilo, ya never know.

Try ur BIOS
 

Try changing what your BIOS uses to access large disks. Mine has the options of DOS or OTHER i need OTHER for LINUX but DOS for Windows...really annoying...other choices may be LBA or CHS i think research it or just try ur bios. Last option would be have a 98 boot floppy and edit the autoexec.bat file to have an extra line that says "win" and just stick that lfoppy in to automatically load windows and take it out for Linux.
