Introduction to linux
 
I write that i need all the basic requirement to get use to the linux platform. i would appreciate if the necessary document in getting started can be mail to me. Thanks.

Generally, folks here like questions to be a little more specific, but I also understand that, when you don't know anything about a topic, it can be difficult to ask specific questions.

This is a good general introduction in non-technical terms, though it's a little out of date:

This is excellent, but much longer--it helped me tremendously when I started with Linux. I still have a printed copy on my bookshelf:

You might also download a live CD like Knoppix, boot to the CD, and take a look at it.

Dammit! That's where I've been going wrong! I've been putting my Slackware CDs in my Sony Walkman. :redface: :D

Linux Mint is a very good version to start with and you can download their users' guide:

Some great distros to start off with are Ubuntu, Linux Mint or Fedora. Fedora is especially great if you're used to the Windows interface. The plus of Linux Mint is that it supports codecs such as Flash and java straight out of the box, which is usually much easier for newer users. Linux Mint is based off of Ubuntu. All three are great distributions with excellent support communities. What distro to use is a matter of personal preference though. I would suggest trying out some live CDs so you can get a general feel for a distribution without actually installing it. Linux online has a nice guide to getting started with Linux:
