Intro book search

My son recently installed a newer Ubuntu version of Linux on a brand new computer for me. I was using an older version of Linux on an old computer for basic internet surfing and digital photography storage. What I need now is a book written in an easy to understand format so I can learn more about my new computer system. The books I reviewed on this forum do not appear to cover basics that I can understand. Is there an up to date publication that includes an explanation of basic terminology for a newbie like me? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Smurof.

Question moved to Linux-Newbie where it fits better.

Could you say us what more-or-less the difference in hardware and software is? And, do you have special preferences, needs? That would allow to choose resources better.

You could use www.google.com/linux to look up and download the following:

I personally like "Running Linux" published by O'Reilly. "Linux In A Nutshell" is another if you want a command line reference.

The Ubuntu Bible (published by Wiley).
