interrupted booting in Ubuntu 12.04

Hi,
I apologize if I have missed the thread already posted but I just could not find it. The problem: I run Ubuntu 12.04 and when I switch the machine on, the montor stays black and in a while it announces "no signal detected", the monitor goes back on stand-by and HD seems to go on working. In a minute or two, without any activity from my side the monitor switches from stand-by into active, and the process seems to begin from the spot it should have begun in the first place.
It was not the case in previous distros and I do not know whether I should just ignore it or where to correct the mistake.
Thanks to anyone who would care to look into this.

I have the same thing happening on my machine but I think it's due to using an old crt monitor.

Thanks, EDDY1, even if I think that is not the case, as I am using a LCD monitor. I hoped there may be an available correction in some scrit. Anyway, I can live with it, so I mark the thread as solved. Quidam35
